On a continuous path of school improvement since its inception, Al Waha has made tremendous efforts to evolve professionally. Beginning with a visit from a representative of Chelstoke Educational Consultants, UK, in the year 1999, the school’s efforts towards international accreditation have been on-going.

The school has been accredited by the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), UK, as an Attached Centre and an approved Centre for the purposes of the practical component of IGCSE Information Technology, ‘A’ Level Applied Information and Communication Technology, AS/A Level Physics, Chemistry and Biology examinations.

Based on the recommendations of visiting teams from CIE and the British Council, Jeddah, all facilities including the laboratory systems, classrooms and the library etc. are regularly upgraded. Currently, it is a regular member of the Council of International Schools, (CIS), UK, the school accreditation body of the European Council of International Schools, Inc. and in May 2008, the school was accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI).

NCA CASI is an accreditation division of AdvancED. Subsequently, members of the management, and several senior teachers, have been invited by Advanced on an going-basis to serve as team members of accreditation teams on external Quality Assurance Review visits to other schools.

CONTINOUS IMPROVEMENTS
Continuous and planned professional staff development is seen as a critical requirement for improving school performance. Teachers across the grade level, as well as administrators, are facilitated through the school to attend professional workshops, seminars and webinars, both within the Kingdom and abroad. Opportunities for on-line professional training through certified organisations are optimised for teachers across the grade level.

In-house training events, conducted through workshops, are continuously held in school in various learning areas to help teachers improve skills of pedagogy and instructional strategy. In the Senior School, regular subject co-ordination meetings ensure that academic delivery in various areas is effectively monitored and continuously improved. The Junior School aims at continuous improvement through particular stress on building skills that facilitate cognition and comprehension.

Coordination sessions between teachers, Coordinators/Supervisors, and the Director and teachers ensures that a tightening of areas that appear weak are attended to and newer areas that engage students on a higher level of thinking are explored.
